Lavazza and LaChapelle came together for the first time in 2002, when Lavazza commissioned the artist for that year’s calendar, Espresso & Fun.
In 2012, the photographer was one of the stars of The Lavazzers, the calendar that celebrated 12 masters of photography.
David LaChapelle and Lavazza found their paths crossing once again when the latter entrusted the 2020 calendar, shot in Hawaii, to the artist.
Realize is one of the stand-out photographs in the calendar. It was presented during the Divine Acts exhibition and acts as both an invitation and a warning regarding the beauty of our planet and the risks that it faces.
“LaChapelle has been able to interpret values that we strongly believe in and it has been a privilege to work with him. We tried to tell the story of the importance of reconnecting with nature”.
Francesca Lavazza
Earth CelebrAction was the title chosen for the 2020 Lavazza calendar, which aims to celebrate the relationship that binds mankind and nature, while at the same time suggesting a range of actions that can be taken to safeguard it.
The verbs that accompany each of these extraordinary images by David LaChapelle express the full urgency of promoting responsibility towards the people around us and the world we live in.
The Calendar remains an ideal tool for fostering a critical sense of the present, using the beauty of art to engage and inspire, while also issuing a call to action.
It is no accident that the verb chosen for December, to close out the calendar, is an invitation to take concrete action as well as a wish for us all: “change”.
